What is the Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry?
The Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry delivers non-perishable groceries, some fresh fruits and vegetables and challah every other week free of charge to people experiencing serious financial difficulties. Founded in 1996, the Food Pantry is administered by Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service of South Palm Beach County (RRJFS) to ensure that no individual or family in our community goes hungry.
How is the Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry Funded?
Support for the Food Pantry comes from a wide variety of sources, including individual philanthropy, synagogues, Jewish agencies and organizations.
One hundred percent of all donations to the Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry are disbursed directly for food purchases. All administrative costs are borne by Ruth Rales Jewish Family Services.
Volunteers of all ages are a vital
part of Food Pantry Operations:
● Help during the holidays with
special food packages
● Participate in monthly food
baggings and deliveries
● Assist with administrative tasks
● Financial donations
Why is the Forster Family Kosher Food Pantry Necessary?
In our society, food is plentiful. Most of us take for granted the widespread abundance of food in supermarkets and restaurants, never doubtful about finding the means to provide ourselves and our families with regular well-balanced meals. But for many, skipping meals to pay bills or buy medicine, saving scraps of food to have enough to eat during the day, and living with hunger is a daily occurrence.
The Food Pantry's mission is to help alleviate the burden of hunger so that those in our community who are experiencing this challenge can direct their efforts towards improving their situation. Providing for those who are lacking the means to afford basic necessities is also the essence of Tzedakah, which asks us to help those in need live with more dignity and comfort.
