Administrative Support for busy Volunteer Services Department. Computer literacy a must! Big Pal/Little Pal program pairs volunteers over 21 with children and adolescents who are growing up without the benefit of a two-parent family. Career counseling volunteers assist clients with resume writing, interviewing techniques, and creating job search tips. Client Advocates provide help to the frail elderly by assisting them in formulating questions to ask their doctor, accompanying them to the visit and then ensuring that they understand what was said to them. Diamond Club volunteers are very much appreciated at our Monday morning social club for seniors over the age of 75. A variety of opportunities are available including registering members, helping in the kitchen with the late morning refreshments, or assisting members with craft projects that are then donated to hospitals and other needy organizations. Food Pantry opportunities include food baggings and delivery of food to needy residents in our community. Friendly Visitor Program volunteers make social visits to a frail, isolated senior once a week. Grandparenting Program matches mature adults with children who have a need for a special person in their lives. Jack C. Alexander Telephone Reassurance Calls provides telephone companionship to frail, elderly, and homebound recipients through daily calls from compassionate and skilled volunteers. Call notes are kept and appropriate professional assistance is sought if there are concerns about the client. Kibbitz and Ride pairs volunteer drivers with seniors in need of transportation to shopping, social outings and other important destinations. Kosher Konnection can always use volunteer servers for our daily congregate lunch program in Delray Beach. Parachaplaincy Program provides pastoral support primarily for patients in hospitals and residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and retirement communities to offer comfort and to celebrate their Judaism through conversation, prayer and music. Story Circle volunteers lead reminiscence groups at nursing homes, independent and assisted living facilities. Teen Connect matches high school students who offer support to the elderly through weekly telephone calls. Includes special events.
